NFUM Policyholders 

We have arranged emergency accommodation for any NFUM policyholder that is unable to stay in their home due to severe damage from Storm Goretti.

You will be required to provide your NFUM policy number and may be required to pay for the appropriate standard or family room rate. If you pay in advance, we will guarantee the payment for legitimate claims and subject to your policy wording, terms & conditions.

⚠️ So that we can prioritise those in acute need, we would ask that non-emergency claims are reported to us in the usual way via the website or by calling us on 01534 835 383 during office open hours.

How to Prepare Ahead of the Storm

Around the home

  • Secure or bring inside loose items such as garden furniture, bins and plant pots

  • Close and secure windows, doors and shutters

  • Park vehicles away from trees, walls and coastal areas where possible

Inside the property

  • Move valuable or easily damaged items away from windows

  • Keep torches, batteries and mobile phones charged

  • Know where stopcocks and fuse boxes are located

If travelling

  • Check travel plans and local updates before setting off

  • Allow extra time and avoid unnecessary journeys during severe weather

After the Storm

Once it is safe to do so:
  • Check for visible damage to buildings, vehicles or property

  • Take photos of any damage before clearing it up, if possible

  • Make temporary repairs to prevent further issues (only if safe)
